WestSide Ballet (Age 10+) Every Saturday 4.30-5.30pm Griffeen Valley School, Lucan
This Class
is Pay-As-U-Go General Level Class
Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms, that’s why at
WestSide students are encouraged to participate in the weekly scheduled
classes. Engaging each student and preparing them in a mature and relaxed
environment both mentally and physically, this is conquered during barre work with a
combination of RAD,ISTD and Cecchetti technique and terminology. Physical
discipline, general body awareness with control and coordination is also gained
during the barre work at the beginning of the class, allowing students to
become confident in the ballet genre. Body placement, flexibility,
balance, alignment, strength and technique are also achieved throughout the
duration of the class using barre and later in the class, centre floor work,
including port de bras, adage, pirouettes and petit allegro. Students will
also demonstrate their new skills and combinations through traveling sequences
across the floor, including grand allegro. More complex material will be
taught at an accelerated pace as the students progress throughout the
term. Understanding and appreciating the relationship between music,
rhythmic patterns and controlled movement with proper ballet technique are
required skills and foundations for all dance styles. The aim of the classes
are to enhance the students musical and performance skills. Here at WestSide we
know that the best way for our students to excel to their full potential is to
equip them with strong technique to allow them to be confident in their ability
to execute a dance step or routine to a high standard.
